Cocktails and Steak
A touch of glamour and a secret history: Cocktails and Steak
Underneath the arches of Glasgow Central Station, Alston Bar & Beef is named after Alston Street, the bustling thoroughfare in the lost village of Grahamston, demolished in the 1870s to make way for the railway. Our client wanted the restaurant furniture both to echo the substance of the workmanship of a bygone age and reflect the glamour of its elegant gin cocktails and steak menus. Months of careful preparation went into selecting Alston Bar & Beef’s unique offering: the very best sources of meats, great chefs, knowledgeable managers and a mind-blowing array of gins.
The furniture also had to be perfect. Ambience Designs supplied the highest-quality, craftsman-made solid wood tables, upholstery and marble tops, made in the UK.
With a lively, sophisticated clientele, excellent food and fabulous service, the Alston Bar & Grill has achieved its ambition ‘to raise the bar for meat lovers’ in a city blessed with many excellent eateries.
The contract furniture Ambience Designs supplied includes chairs, table bases, marble table tops, banquette seating, café furniture, outdoor furniture and alfresco equipment.
The first theatre in Glasgow was opened in Alston Street in 1764 and it’s good to know that, more than 250 years later, it’s still a fun place to be.
Owned and run by one of the UK’s largest independent bar and restaurant companies, the Alston Bar & Grill is now a busy 90-seater restaurant that embraces new ideas and values traditional quality.
